		abstract={This study aims to find the types of deixis, the dominant type of deixis, and the reference
meanings of deixis in the song lyrics. The research uses a pragmatic approach based on Cruse?s
theory to answer the research questions. The research was conducted by using a descriptive
qualitative method. The research object in this study is Midnights album by Taylor Swift. The
research data are gathered from thirteen songs of the Midnights album, and they are classified into
the types of deixis based on their own criteria. The results of this research found that there are five
types of deixis were found in the song lyrics of the Midnights album, there are person deixis 38%,
spatial deixis 19%, temporal deixis 33%, social deixis 4%, and discourse deixis 6%. The most
dominant type of deixis found is person deixis. These findings suggest that deixis functions as a
powerful linguistic device for interpreting meaning in song lyrics, allowing listeners to engage
with the emotions and/or situations conveyed by the singer.}
