Abstract :
The availability of electricity is one of the most important factors to improve the welfare and economy of the community. The electricity system in Jakarta and Banten region comes from several power plants such as UP Muara Karang, PLTU Suralaya, PLTU Labuhan, UPJP Priok, and PLTU Lontar. Regarding the development of industry in Jakarta and Banten region, the power plant unit is required to remain reliable in its operation. The power plant unit can be interrupted at any time so it cannot operate and detach from the system. The level of reliability of the power plant is measured by the Loss of Load Probability (LOLP) index. LOLP illustrates the magnitude of the opportunity for the occurrence of load loss as a result of the lack of available power in the system. The addition of generating units is done to compensate for the increasing electricity supply. In this case the PLTU Lontar has added unit 4 of 315 MW therefore LOLP index evaluation is needed at PLTU Lontar. Alteration of calculation from the level of system operation reliability is based on available power in system and force outage hours of the power plant unit within one year. From the calculation result, the LOLP index of the PLTU Lontar is getting better after the addition of unit 4 of 315 MW.
