ABSTRACT
In the distribution of electric power interruption occurs frequently. The most common disturbance is a short circuit in overcoming the disorder where it is necessary the installation of the overcurrent relays in order to secure the electrical equipment. Installation overcurrent relays in substations must be well coordinated between the relay one another so as to reduce the area of electrical outages. In this study discusses the power distribution system, short circuit, the protection system as well as discuss the overcurrent relays and their characteristics. The method used in this study using a quantitative method whereby the large calculating the source impedance, reactance and impedance transformer through which the total value used to calculate the impedance of the large short-circuit current 2-phase and 3-phase, and the results of the short-circuit current calculation used to determine the settings of overcurrent relays in substations. The results of the calculation of the source impedance, reactance and impedance transformer obtained channel total value of positive and negative sequence impedance of 8.4951 + j11,5537, and the value of short circuit current 2-phase and 3-phase for 4573,8351A and 5281,4098A. The results of the obtained results overcurrent relays setting on the GI Mantang the outgoing side of the feeder Bodak of 1,4751A with TMS .182 with a time delay of 0.3 seconds and on the incoming side of the transformer 1 of 0,9093A and TMS 0.179 with time delay 0, 7 seconds, so that with such results between incoming and outgoing relay has been coordinated
