Abstract :
In the operation of the Gas and Steam Power Plant, there is the most important factor for producing electricity, namely the current of excitation, where the excitation current greatly affects the reliability and accuracy of working a generator, in this case called the excitation system. giving excitation current can give a change in generator capability which includes frequency, rotor rotation speed, generator output current and voltage, output power, and power factor produced. Therefore a good excitation system is needed to maintain the stability of the generator's ability to ensure the reliability of a generator. The excitation current provided must be measured properly and continue to adjust to the load that keeps changing from time to time. Control of excitation current values at PT. PJB UPHB PLTGU Muara Karang is carried out automatically by Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR). AVR must be very reliable in its operations in order to maintain the stability of the generator's capabilities. with this observation it is hoped that the operation of the excitation system will continue to increase to be more reliable and effective.
