Abstract :
During this time students majoring in mechanical engineering who took the course the power plant and electrical engineering student who took the course of power generation, to understand how they work or processes of the plant so it can
generate electricity and how the efficiency calculations, still with reading / module. During the use of books, most of them still do not understand / feel it difficult to know the process plant. other than that in calculating the efficiency, a student of
mechanical engineering and electrical engineering still manually calculating the length of the formula. Most of them still do not understand how to calculate the efficiency of the power plant. In this study, the authors use the method of multimedia development by Luther, which consists of the determination of the concept (concept), designing, collecting materials (collecting material), manufacturing (assembly), testing (testing), and distribution. At the manufacturing stage, the researcher using visual studio 2010 as the main software assisted with Adobe Flash CS4, Adobe Photoshop, kvisoft flipbook, cool edit pro record. The output of interactive learning media applications, in which simulation of 2D animation showing the process of electricity production at power plants so that the learning process more interesting. In addition this application also displays a simulation of the power plant efficiency. Simulation is a training method that demonstrate something in the form of a clone who is similar to the real situation. The workings of this calculation simulation is to enter the data required to calculate efficiency, the efficiency results will appear. With this simulation students majoring in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering are still difficulties in understanding the work process and the calculation of the efficiency of the power plant, can easily understand.
