Abstract :
Synchronous generators are electric machines that convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. In the generator there is an excitation system that functions to channel the excitation strengthening current to the generator rotor. The excitation current which is set in magnitude will affect the amount of reactive power released by the generator so as to stabilize the generator output voltage. When the value of the excitation current rises, the value of reactive power will also be greater, at the lowest excitation current value of 886.71 A and the value of reactive power of 28.473 MVAR. Whereas when the highest excitation current value is 989.25 A the value of reactive power is 54.199 MVAR.. The generator has a limit to operate safely on the generator capability curve, the calculated data obtained for active power values when operating are in the range of 0.68 P.U on May 13, 2019 and 0.67 P.U on May 17, 2019. Whereas the value of reactive power is in the range of 0.32 P.U on May 13, 2019 and 0.36 P.U on May 17, 2019. So, when this generator operates it is still within safe limits and good for operating.
