Abstract :
Advances in technology have evolved, can be seen by the many electronic components that can help or facilitate a job carried out by humans to be more practical, economical and efficient regardless of distance and time. One of them is the electronic component is the KiloWatt Hour Meter (KWh Meter). KWh meter is a tool used by the PLN to calculate the customer's energy consumption. KWh meters in the way they work are divided into analog and digital KWh meters. One of them is the electronic component is the KiloWatt Hour Meter (KWh Meter). KWh meter is a tool used by the PLN to calculate the customer's energy consumption. KWh meters in the way they work are divided into analog and digital KWh meters. Then the digital KWh meter in its use is also divided into postpaid and prepaid. Data processing techniques used in this study are testing, observation and data analysis. For the basis of calculation per KWh, there are regulations in the basic electricity tariff for analog kWh meter customers, digital kWh meters using brands and types according to their designation. In this test using a class 1 kWh electronic meter and a class 1 kWh mechanical meter were carried out for 6 hours. The results obtained for class 1 electronic kWh meters for inductive loads (cos? = 0.85) obtained energy of 15.98 kWh and class 1 mechanical kWh meters obtained energy of 15.86 kWh. Readable load power of 15.96 kWh means that close to the actual power is an electronic kWh meter or digital kWh meter means it can be proven to be more efficient use of digital kWh meters compared to analog kWh meters. Even more efficient if the kWh meter uses the AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) system
