Abstract :
In medium voltage distribution networks, there are often disturbances that can result in decreased continuity of electric power distributed to customers. To overcome this, a safety device is installed on the network that can disconnect
itself when there is a fault current due to short circuit. The use of overcurrent relays and ground disturbance relays are widely used because of their reliability in operation. In this final project discusses the coordination of relay settings in
Substation MK274 Sahara feeder at PT. PLN (Persero) UP3 Cengkareng and optimization of the protection system using CT ring. The short-circuit fault current is charged at 5661.16 A. While the CT block at the substation can only read the 300 A disturbance current, so a back up protection device such as a CT ring can read the fault current up to 16000 A. Coordination is needed so that the relay is relayed at the customer's substation TM works faster than feeder
relay. From the calculation results, the relay time setting value on the outgoing side of the feeder is 0.69 seconds with a TMS value of 0.38. Whereas at MK274 substation, the relay time setting is 0.29 seconds with a TMS value of 0.21.
