Abstract :
The use of brakes in hydroelectric power plants (PLTA) is to speed up the time needed to stop the rotation (rpm) of the shaft unit. This is necessary because considering the large generator shaft rotation (333 rpm) and required no brake system, it takes more time to waiting for the delivery shaft schedule to stop. This braking system activates the unit when it is turned off to carry out maintenance and unit trips (problems occur). System that helps utilize compressed air (pneumatic), as a pressure channel media for brake lining (brake canvas) which then removes the brake ring generator. Service air system is a system that functions as an air provider for equipment needs in the generating unit. The air is used as a driver for both hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. This system consists of 2 pairs, 1 pair consists of 2 motor compressors and 1 main air tank, 1 normal operation and 1 more for backup. Air needs are supplied from the compressor which is in the process of processing, the air is compressed or compressed to 3 kg until it reaches a pressure of 75 kg / cm2. The working principle of the compressor is the air filter which then uses compression or compression. The purpose of this final discussion is the renewal and mitigation efforts that occur in the brake system at the Saguling hydroelectric power plant. In discussing this final project the author uses several methods of interviewing research methods, literature study methods, and direct observation methods
