Abstract :
If the circulating cooling water is low enough, it will cause low back pressure to throw steam out of the turbine. This will reduce the final pressure coming out of the turbine so that the turbine power will be greater compared to installations that do not use a condenser. Or with a fixed turbine power, installation efficiency will increase. Steam condenser which is a water-cooled heat exchanger will be greatly influenced by the condition of cooling water or circulation, both temperature or cleanliness. In making this paper will be taken into account the effect of the difference in the temperature of the cooling water on the performance of the condenser so that it affects the efficiency of the unit itself. Measurements were taken based on data obtained from the OP PLTU rendal room. The parameters measured are sea water temperature, condenser pressure, vacuum condenser. The final result is expected that with the high temperature of the cooling water, it will increase the condenser vacuum, heat transfer rate and reduce the effectiveness of the condenser. The implementation was carried out on 13 October 2018 at 09:45 and on 14 December 2018 at 13.30 the results obtained at sea water temperature of 31.39 ° C had a higher effectiveness value of 0.99601, a lower vacuum value of 0.0942 bar, the value of heat transfer rate amounting to 10,31464 MW. While at a temperature of 33,767 ° C produces a vacuum value of 0.107647 bar, heat transfer rate of 153.60124, effectiveness of 0.96601
