Abstract :
Roads are one of the important infrastructures to connect one region to another. As time goes by, roads that are continuously used will experience a decrease in quality marked by damage to the road surface. The research was conducted visually using the Pavement Condition Index method. The road pavement damage assessment system using the Pavement Condition Index method is based on the type of damage, level of damage and dimensions of damage This research was conducted to assess the conditions of West Karawang Interchange pavement conditions and find out the appropriate handling method for road damage that occurred.West Karawang Interchange road which is reviewed for 1 km and is divided into 10 segments with a size of 100 x 7 m per segment. Each segment is evaluated to get a PCI value. The results of the analysis show that the damage that occurred was depression, slippage cracking, shoving, bumps and sags, lane/shoulder drop off, potholes, alligator cracks, longitudinal/transverse cracking, patching and utility cut patching, block cracking, edge cracking, polished aggregate, weathering/raveling . The average PCI value for West Karawang Road Interchange is 79 which is categorized in very good condition, but still requires some handling and maintenance of roads to improve comfort and safety for driver.
