Abstract :
Test results by PT. Wijaya Karya, the soil in Cengkareng ? Kunciran Highway Project is a type of organic clay soil which has the properties of low carrying capacity, high water content, low shear strength, large shrinkage properties, cohesiveness, high compressibility and very large deformation. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the properties of the soil to avoid structural failure due to the collapse of the foundation ground and result in damage to the upper structure. To improve the properties of this soil used chemical stabilization with iron waste with variations of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% respectively with curing time of 0 and 7 days. From the variation, the mixture of clay soil and iron waste, the optimum percentage value for the addition of lime is 20% with a curing time of 7 days. Pure Clay soil with a water content of 39,0833%, Gs = 2,6203, LL = 74,8115%, PL=42,7347%, IP= 32,0768%, SL= 35,9658%, friction angle= 15?40'7,68" and cohesion value C=0,2403 kg/cm2 has stablished by mixture of clay soil and 20% PT.KSI iron waste Clay soil with 7 days curing time with the result a water content of 30,6436%, Gs = 2,7639, LL = 49,3430%, PL= 30,7809%, IP= 18,5621%, SL= 26,7019%, friction angle=37?31?27,48? and cohesion value C=0,1347 kg/cm2. From the results of this research the use of PT. KSI Iron Waste can be the best alternative material for stabilizing clay soil in the Cengkareng ? Kunciran Highway Project.
