Abstract :
Soil is a very essential structure in building construction, damages to a building are often caused by land subsidence problems. The occurrence of soil consolidation if it is subjected to the above loading, the pore water pressure will rise so that the pore water comes out which causes a decrease in soil volume, therefore there will be a significant decrease in soil which will affect the reduced carrying capacity of the soil to hold the load on it. Clay soil in the 400-500 MW CCPP Muara Karang Project is designed to be able to accept the PLTGU engine load and vibration which will increase the land subsidence. In a long time, this can cause damage to the building. To improve the properties of clay soil can be done by means of stability. The method to improve the stability of the soil used is the improvement of the soil chemically by using shellfish as a mixture with soil with a variation of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% of the weight of the soil sample. From the testing that has been done, the optimum percentage value for soil improvement in 10% shellfish obtained, where the soil with a mixture of 10% shells has a water content of 50.4559%, specific gravity 2.4773, liquid limit of 80.5154%, limit plastic 58,3224%, plasticity index 22,1921%, shrinkage limit 29,905%, and compression index value (Cc) 0,0824, and consolidation coefficient value (Cv) 0,0038 cm2 / sec. The greater the coefficient of consolidation, the smaller the magnitude of the decrease that occurs. From the results of this study the use of shellfish of soil improvement material was able to improve the soil conditions of the 400-500 MW CCPP Muara Karang Project,
