Abstract :
Indonesia has a fairly high earthquake intensity. These conditions affect the
planning of buildings, especially tall buildings as earthquake resistant structures.
The earthquake load that occurs will greatly affect the planning of columns in the
building. This study aims to determine the effect of efficient reinforcement in the
form of square and rectangular columns in a square and rectangular building plan
with a variation of 4 spans, 6 spans and 8 spans against seismic loads. Structure
modeling, analysis and design process using computer programs. At this stage,
the definition of all types and sizes of the elements of the apartment building is
made with a variety of modules, 4 spans, 6 spans, 8 spans. The earthquake
loading analysis used in this modeling uses spectrum response analysis. Based
on the results of the discussion, it is known that the structure vibration period (T)
of the entire building is smaller than the maximum fundamental approach
vibration period (Tmax) in both square and rectangular columns. The inter-floor
deviation in the rectangular column building is larger than the square column
building with x direction deviation, while in the Y direction deviation the square
column building is larger than the rectangular column building which occurs on
the 4th floor. The main reinforcement in the rectangular column is more the
amount is compared to a square column. And shear reinforcement in rectangular
column buildings on floors one to three is tighter than in square columns
