Abstract :
Transformer oil functions as a dielectric liquid and as a coolant. Transformer oil needs to be maintained so that it can carry out its duties as an insulator and also the coolant optimally. Some of the tests carried out in order to maintain the performance of the transformer oil remain optimal include the breakdown voltage test or commonly called the Break Down Voltage test abbreviated as BDV. The breakdown voltage test aims to determine the maximum voltage limit that can be overcome by transformer oil before it finally breaks down or breaks. There are several factors that can affect the transformer oil dielectric ability, including the water content in oil and air humidity. Humid air means high water content in the air. Water can adversely affect the performance of transformer oil, in addition to causing degradation of breakdown voltage in oil, water can also cause components in transformers made of rusty iron. The results of the breakdown stress test in samples 1.c and 2.c were 17.2 KV and 15.4 KV, respectively, the lowest compared to the other breakdown voltage values of the sample. That is because the oil samples 1.c and 2.c have more water content than the water content in other samples, so the breakdown voltage value will decrease in oil samples that have high water content.
