Abstract :
Electo Hydraulic (EH) is a hydraulic system in the plant that serves as the driving turbine valves. In his work as a hydraulic system, the oil EH generate heat. The oil must be cooled so that the work of EH can be optimized. The oil is cooled by a heat exchanger, EH cooler. In the period running, the function of the cooler EH is not optimal due to interference with the turbine. At first EH oil cooler cools from a temperature of 60, 84 0C (inlet temperature) to 53.21 0C (outlet temperature). But in today's conditions only EH cooler capable of cooling oil from 68.18 0C temperature (inlet temperature) to 60.55 0C (outlet temperature), whereas the cooler exit temperature limit allowable 50-55 0C. The purpose of this thesis is to redesign the EH cooler in order to achieve the allowable temperature, EH cooler can cool the oil at a temperature of 68.18 0C (inlet temperature) to arrive at a temperature of 50 0C (outlet temperature). From the results of the redesign increased heat requirement by 58%, and the overall heat transfer coefficient of 23%, as well as an increase in the surface area of heat transfer, tube length and number of tubes respectively by 63%. But the average temperature difference logarithmic decline of 17%. The data used is secondary data from Suralaya unit 8 using the LMTD method for redesigning EH cooler.
