Abstract :
The condenser unit III of PLTU BUKIT ASAM experiences dearating to the effectiveness of the condenser, due to imperfect heat transfer in the pipe (tube) caused by fouling of dirt carried by cooling water from the river, with high turbulity which may be one of the causes of sediment (fouling). ) it happened. The main function of the steam condenser in the PLTU is to condense the exturbine steam. This time the author only covers the calculation of total heat
transfer using the log mean temperature different (LMTD) method. On the condenser unit III. In this research, the writer will describe how to do chemical cleaning on condenser tube and find the heat transfer value before and after
chemical cleaning. Chemichal Cleaning is only done when the generator is in Shootdown state. It is expected that from the conditions after performing chemical cleaning on the condenser pipes, the results will be better than before
the chemical cleaning, it can be seen from the values that have been obtained when calculating. Where the value of ?LMTD before the calculation of the left side is 27.102 and the right side is 27.532 and after the calculation of the left
side is 9.331 and the right side is 8.367 then we find the value before chemical cleaning is greater and after it is done smaller, because there is an indication of a degree shift in the temperature of the cooling water.
