Abstract :
Excess air is more air needed to produce a perfect combustion and can encourage or move the combustion gases to another chamber. But, considering that excess air will bring heat to the chimney and cause the flue gas temperature to be high, the amount of air must be a compromise between aiming to create complete combustion and efforts to reduce heat lost to the chimney as little as possible. This study aims to determine the effect of excess air on flue gas losses and the efficiency of boiler and flue gas emissions in the form CO, CO2, NOx, and SO2 in unit 1 of Bukit Asam Tanjung Enim Power Plant . Parameters used to calculate excess air from O2 content, the efficiency calculation method used the heat loss method using ASME PTC 4. 1998 standards. The results show that the highest excess air value of 21,831% has an efficiency of 82,20%. The effect of the addition of excess air on flue gas emissions in the form of CO and CO2 has a downward trend, but is directly proportional to the flue gas emissions of SO2 and NOx.
