Abstract :
Indonesia is a tropical country that has a high lightning density. So that in the distribution of electrical energy this is quite dangerous because it can damage electrical equipment at the substation. A device that secures equipment at the substation from lightning disturbances is a lighting arrester. Currently the lightning arrester that is often used is the seamless type with non-linear resistance in the form of Zinc Oxide. In its use, it is important to ensure the condition of the lightning arrester in order to maintain its reliability in securing the equipment. One way is to measure the leakage current resistive lighting arrester. Measurement of the resistive leakage current is carried out using the Leakage Current Monitoring (LCM) method. This is because the resistive leakage current causes the degradation of the Zinc Oxide varistor, which causes heat and reduces the performance of the lightning arrester. So that the measured value of the resistive leakage current shows the condition of the lightning arrester. The maximum limit of the resistive leakage current depends on the type of brand and the type of arrester used. From the value of the resistive leakage current, it can also be seen that the recommendations for treatment of lightning arresters can be seen. From the research, it was found that the average measurement of the resistant leakage current of the arrester at the Padang Luar Substation is 14-80 ?A. For the average calculation results, the leakage current value is 12-70 ?A. This indicates that the lightning arrester used is still in good condition because it is still in factory standards and PLN standards of 150 ?A. Based on the recommended value, the value is 10-49% so the recommendation for treatment of lightning arresters is to measure the annual leakage current. PLN standard if the recommended value is ? 90%, then the recommendation for treatment of lightning arresters is to measure the annual LCM
