Abstract :
Voltage stability is an aspect that must be achieved in process of generating electricity. AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) is a device that functions to maintain a stable voltage. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect and performance of the Suralaya power plant unit 2 AVR generator. There are two methods used in this study. The first method is using MATLAB with load rejection and manual tunning integral proportional control to observe the AVR response during transient conditions. From this method two simulations will be carried out, namely the load rejection of 50% and 90% load. The second method is to analyze the voltage regulation data based on the daily logging data of the Suralaya power plant unit 2 generator. The results showed that in the transient condition, the best integral proportional control to be applied in system has a value of Kp = 12 and Ki = 10. And system overshoot value will be lower when simulating a 50% load rejection of 1,043 pu than a 90% load of 1,073 pu. But for the settling time the load rejection of 50% becomes longer that is equal to 5.36 seconds while the load of 90% is 5,09 seconds. In transient conditions, the highest generator terminal voltage regulation was 3.9% and the lowest value was -1.38%.
