Abstract :
The increasing of electicity need and the limited source of fossil energy causing the rise of various alternative energy sources, an alternative energy source that is abundant in Indonesia is palm oil, PTPN V as a state-owned enterprise that processes the results of state plantations build biogas power plants from liquid waste palm oil to produce electricity that used to meet the burden of the palm kernel processing plant. In research on the study of the performance of biogas power plants from palm oil liquid waste capacity of 1.6 MW in the PTPN V tandun district it is known thatBiogas PLT tandun works with a biogas formation system in a lagoon cover bio digester type which can hold
biogas up to 24000 m3 with a semi mixing system and a biogas purification system using a wet column type packing scrubber and biogas drying using heat exchenger and chiller. The generation process uses 2 units of gas engine with a
maximum power of 1.2 MW. Biogas PLT performance study data is known to be a capacity factor value of 43-55% productivity factor 61-78% Thermal Efficiency 41% and when converted it is known that to produce the same 1 kWh of electricity requires 0.48m3 biogas and PLTD 0,0003 m3 solar.
