Abstract :
Paving block may be familiar to most Indonesians, because this material is used as a material for pavement of roads, yards or parks.mix Paving block consists of cement, sand and water with a certain ratio. In this study the manufacture of block paving uses LDPE (Low Density Polietylene) plastic waste as a substitute for sand, this can also overcome the existing plastic waste and give economic value to LDPE plastic waste. It is expected that the research carried out by utilizing plastic waste as a substitute material has the quality of the paving block produced can meet one of the qualities in accordance with SNI 03-0691-1996. From this research can be tested the compressive strength test and water absorption test. In this study used a variation of LDPE plastic waste mixture as much as 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% with a treatment period of 7 days, 14 days, 28 days and water absorption at ages 7, 14 and 28 days. At the age of 28 days, the greatest compressive strength was obtained for variations in the mixture of 0% LDPE plastic waste of 18,855 MPa with a water absorption of 10,180%. While the value of optimum compressive strength is found in the variation of 10% LDPE plastic waste mixture of 23,986 MPa and the water absorption value is 9,254%. From the calculation of the unit price, it can be assessed as a paving block with a mixture of LDPE plastic waste worth Rp. 3012.8, - more economical than paving blocks normalat a price of Rp. 3294, -. In addition, the use of LDPE plastic waste can reduce environmental pollution and provide better economic value in the manufacture of paving blocks with LDPE plastic waste mixtures.
