Abstract :
As the increasing of cable system usage in electric power distribution in urban areas has led to the necessity of reliable cable system. In urban areas as in Jakarta, underground cable is used to enhance the look of the city. However, underground cables also have its own obstacles due to the interference of the cable joint, as known as partial discharge. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a 20 kV SKTM cable assessment to see the condition of the damage and provide a maintenance recommendation. Cable testing on the Krakatau feeder of GD 8 C segment to GD 246 P with a cable length of 780 m and 4 jointing points. Maintenance recommendation result from partial discharge test on R phase (L1), the result indicates that cable condition is bad with 6 months period estimated maintenance. For S phase (L2), the result indicates that cable condition is very bad with 3 month maintenance period. As for the T phase (L3), the result indicates that cable condition a very bad condition with 3 months maintenance period. These recommendations were obtained by considering PDIV and PDEV and the release of the electrical charge (pC). Cable assessment must be managed continuously in order to reduce the damage of the 20 kV underground cable line, cables with good conditions will maintain the reliability of the distribution of electric power system, especially on the medium voltage cable line 20 kV.
