Abstract :
Using solar energy has been one of the most suitable approach to establish. Solar energy is converted to electrical energy by solar photovoltaic. Cirata solar power plant which located in Java island with its power capability of 1,283 MWp. The most important components in solar power plant system is solar
panel. However, in the long-term usage, hotspot problem may occur in the solar panel. Hotspot at Cirata solar power plant is caused by the damage in the solar panel, insulation fault and damage in the inverter. This thesis will analyse the impact of hotspot in the solar thin film CIS type SF 170-S panel at Cirata solar power plant 1 MWP by comparing the production output of the solar panel that has a hotspot anomaly condition to not hotspot (normal) condition. In this research uses the daily production statistics with data base intensity per 5 minutes, irradiation data, Effective Sun Hours (ESH) report, and environment factor report as well. Total of solar panel caused by the effect of the hotspot anomaly in Cirata solar power plant was 307 solar panels with percentage of energy losses is around 5% or 52.19 kWp of installed capacity.
