Abstract :
The measurement of stockpile tanks using the Automatic Tank Gauging (ATG) method has many shortcomings. The sensors used in the ATG method cannot accurately measure the level of a liquid that has a bumpy surface and changes in height quickly. This deficiency can be minimized by using sensors that can measure altitude quickly and accurately. Ultrasonic sensors can measure the distance or height of an object quickly and precisely, so it is very suitable for use in liquid level measurement systems. The research of automatic fluid level control systems was used the HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor and the PID control system as an altitude control system. The response from the PID controller is expected to produce a fast and stable response that can still at the set-point value of 15 cm. The method that used to find the PID parameters in this research is trial and error method, and its got the Kp = 1.4; Ki = 14; and Kd = 1.26 as parameters which has a fairly fast response with a settling time at 14 seconds and a steady state error is 0.9%.
