Abstract :
This study aims to detect the hissing sound produced by the high voltage phenomenon at cubicle 20 kV. One of the high voltage phenomena is the corona phenomenon, which is a phenomenon that occurs when air around a conductor or on conductor is ionized. The benefit of this research is to prevent the insulation failure from consequence of corona which can cause damaged electric equipment so that will improve the service quality of PT. PLN. The method used is an experimental method that compares the theory that we knew with the actual conditions at the cubicle 20 kV. The results obtained for detecting the corona through recorded sound waves can be used to prevent insulation failure, marked by the presence of a sound wave form that gets bigger when the hissing is heard
