Abstract :
Isolation is very important and cannot be separated from high-voltage equipment, which acts as a separator between live electric conductors, so that the conductors do not experience the phenomenon of fire or spark. In air insulation media, increasing temperature will affect the increase in energy so that it can accelerate the movement of the electrodes. This study aims to determine the value of the breakdown voltage and electric field. The test method used is the breakdown voltage method with a variable distance of 1 cm; 1.5 cm; 2 cm; 2.5 cm; and 3 cm using copper electrodes with taper and spherical shapes and aluminum electrodes with taper and rod shapes. The results showed that the greater the gap between the electrodes, the greater the value of the breakdown voltage as in the test for taper copper electrodes with taper copper at a distance of 1 cm the value of the breakdown voltage was 16 kV and at a distance of 3 cm the value of the breakdown voltage was 23 kV, while at the spherical copper electrode. with copper sphere the value of the breakdown voltage is at a distance of 1 cm 24 kV while at a distance of 3 cm the value of the breakdown voltage is 55 kv. From the research results it is also known that the value of the electric field, the greater the distance between the electrodes, the smaller the value of the electric field. In testing the taper aluminum test object with aluminum taper at a distance of 1 cm the electric field value is 26.869 kV/m and at a distance of 3 cm the electric field value decreases to 9.728 kV/m. While at the aluminum rod electrode with aluminum rod the electric field value at a distance of 1 cm is 16.731 kV/m while at a distance of 3 cm the electric field value is 9.785 kV/m.
