Abstract :
Transformer serve to transmit electrical energy from high voltage to low voltage or vice versa in same frequency. Factor that cause decrease in quality and availability of electrical power services is failure of insulation transformer oil, which can be from high load of transformer or length of use of transformer. This study aims to know characteristics of breakdown voltage in transformer oils Distro DT-11 and Poweroil, and mixture of the two oils also effects of temperature oil to value of breakdown voltage. Research methods used are literature studies, experimental and observations. Oils used as research subjects are new transformer oils Distro DT-11 and Poweroil. In data collection, sampling of transformer oil Distro DT-11 and Poweroil, and mixture of both transformer oils with predetermined mixture composition. With changes in oil temperature on each parameter. Based on results of study, transformer oil tends to experience decreasing in breakdown voltage value when mixed with other transformer oils. Breakdown voltage value of Distro DT-11 oil is 76.8kV, while Poweroil oil is 68.8kV. Then in the mixture of 50% Distro DT-11:50% Poweroil breakdown voltage value is 58.5kV. From results of this study also, temperature of oil is inversely proportional to breakdown voltage of oil.
