Abstract :
A metal material if working in an environment with a high load will change it mechanical properties and microstructure, it can even be deformed to failure. As the development of science and technology, various kinds of research related to modifying microstructure, chemical composition and mechanical properties of metal materials to obtain the desired properties. To obtain the desired properties, a pure metal must be combined with other materials. Cast iron is one of the metal alloy materials that is widely used by industry where the machinery of the industry works in a high loading environment and from that problem cast iron is prone to fatigue which can result in material failure. One of the application of cast iron is in the exhaust manifold components, where the most dominants loading is high temperature loads and the most dominants failures are thermal fatigue and oxidation. Many research journals that focus on improving high temperatures resistance of cast iron, several journal will be reviewed to find a common thread.
