Abstract :
Air Heater is one of the auxiliary equipment in the Boiler system. Air Heater functions as an initial heater in the air system in the PLTU, both primary air (Primary Air) and secondary air (Secondary Air) with a certain temperature so that the boiler can occur optimally. In the heating process, the Air Heater uses hot gas from the combustion residue from the boiler, out to heat the surface of the Air Heater element. The heating element that is on the flue gas side will be heated by the high exhaust gas temperature, then rotates into the air side and cools the incoming air (room temperature) from the opposite side, resulting in a continuous convection heat transfer. Air Heater is designed so that heat transfer occurs without the two systems touching, so it is very important to keep the elements and seals on the Air Heater in order to work optimally. Therefore, an Overhaul is needed, so that the performance of the Air Heater can be maintained and increased. In this study, the performance of the water heater is determined by calculating the value of water leakage, x-ratio, and effectiveness. Parameters that affect the performance of the air heater are the inlet and outlet temperatures of the exhaust and air sides, the oxygen content at the inlet and outlet of the exhaust gas, and the air flow rate. The calculation results show that after the Overhaul Air Heater has increased performance
