Abstract :
Coal is the primary fuel that is often used in steam power plants in Indonesia. The heat transfer process and the combustion process in the boiler are influenced by the quality of the coal. One of the ingredients in coal that affects the combustion process and the displacement process in the boiler is the calorific value of coal. This can affect the size of the efficiency value of the boiler. In this research, the calculation and analysis of the effect of coal calorific value on boiler efficiency, its effect on the GPHR (Gross Plant Heat Rate) and NPHR (Net Plant Heat Rate) values, the value of fuel consumption and the cost of fuel consumption. In this study, several samples of coal were used in PLTU Banten 2 Labuan. The coal used has a calorific value of 3935.22 Kcal / Kg, 4745.58 Kcal / Kg, and 4594.58 Kcal/Kg. In this study, the results of different boiler efficiency were obtained. The highest boiler efficiency value is 84.86% owned by coal with a calorific value of 4745.58 Kcal/Kg. The calorific value of coal can also affect the GPHR and NPHR values, specific fuel consumption. With each value, namely, GPHR 2274.446 Kcal/ KWh and NPHR 2399.22 Kcal/KWh, the specific fuel consumption is for the specific fuel consumption of 0.479 Kg/KWh.
