Abstract :
Boiler is the main component of the Steam Power Plant which is capable to convert the water mass into the steam phase. Steam Power Plant Banten 3 Lontar OMU uses coal as fuel. In the boiler, there are combustion process and heat transfer, the factors that affect the efficiency of the boiler. The use of fuel is under boiler specification standards. The difference in supply companies is also the factor that cause differences in coal quality. There are two types of coal quality, Low Rank Coal and Medium Rank Coal. In order to maintain the boiler specifications there are two methods used, coal blending method and coal mixing. Coal blending method can affect boiler efficiency. In this thesis, the effect of coal quality from blending on boiler efficiency is analyzed. The efficiency is calculated using heat loss method and specific coal consumption calculation, and economic calculations as a comparison for boiler unit 1 Steam Lontar Power Plant with 230 MW and 300 MW loads. The quality of blending coal is directly proportional to efficiency and inversely proportional to the specific consumption of coal, production costs, and the Gross Plant Heat Rate. The value of high boiler efficiency obtained at the 300 MW load boiler unit 1 with coal blended 75:25, 82,75% efficiency value. For the 230 MW boiler unit 1, the quality of coal blended is 75:25, the efficiency value is 82.93%. Those data prove that the percentage of coal types has an effect and the application of coal blending which can optimize the boiler efficiency
