Abstract :
In a steam power plant, the boiler has a function as a steam generator where the wall tube has an important role in the production process. High exposure temperature on the outside of the tube, the pressure inside the tube, and also the fire that has been contaminated with corrosive residues, in the long-term condition will cause the failure of the tube. Various kinds of failures that occur in tubes, such as pitting corrosion, stress corrosion cracking (SCC), chemical corrosion, stress rupture, thermal fatigue, erosion, and overheating. The discussion regarding the analysis of failure mechanism in tubes was carried out through a literature review by reviewing 7 international journals, using the systematic literature review (SLR) method. Using this SLR method, a systematic review and journal management can be executed, which in each process follows the steps or protocols that have been set. From the results of the review of each journal, to support the failure analysis of the failed tube, several tests were implement consisting of visual observation, scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), microstructure observation, and chemical composition analysis from the examined samples, therefore, conclusions were obtained from the failure to provide mitigation measures for a similar case occurred again at future.
