Abstract :
As technology advances, increasing daily needs so that the manufacture of electronic devices is increasingly needed. MgB2 is one of the potential materials and is expected to replace the Nb3Sn material because it has a higher critical temperature value and a relatively cheaper price. Then a study of MgB2 superconducting material in the form of a wire with variable addition of Mg composition is expected to reduce MgO impurities. Wire fabrication using SS316 with in-situ powder in tube (PIT) method and forming process using rolling and drawing techniques. The sintering process for powder synthesis is carried out at 800OC for 2 hours at the end of the manufacturing stage process, after the sample has been in the form of a wire. In this study Tc zero was not obtained because in the entire sample there was still porosity and the formation of MgO phase was quite high.
