Abstract :
Indonesia has an electricity potential of 75,000 Megawatt (MW) and until now only utilized about 10.2% of the total electrical energy available in Indonesia. In Sawitto's main floodgates, the manual water door is the result of the design to move the main floodgates of Sawitto automatically using the 3-phase electric motor. The research was conducted by collecting Sawitto post hydrology data, as well as the primary data retrieval for debits (Q) and head (Hv) in Sawitto sector of Amassangang irrigation network with a total area of 772 Ha, and both technically and economically calculation. At the Sawitto Irrigation channel, the Amassangang sector has a potential discharge (Q) = 0.625 m3/s, High Water fall (Hv) = 1200 mm, and power (P) = 6.3 kW using the Gravity Water Vortex Power Plant (GWVPP) that utilizes the formed Whirlpool. The type of turbine used is the propeller/Kaplan turbine. With extreme rainfall 2 years in the future 18.41 mm to 39.5 mm in 100 years will come to ensure this design can be built with a 30-year GWVPP operating life, and the inventory period of 5.72 years.
