Abstract :
Paving blocks are also called concrete bricks with constituents of cement and fine aggregate. Producing paving blocks that have good strength is very dependent on the material contained therein. One of them is by utilizing a byproduct
that is coffee ash waste containing silica and bottom ash which has an aggregate almost the same as sand. In this research, paving block was made with coffee ash waste substitution as cement substitution and bottom ash as fine aggregate substitution. The comparison of ingredients for making paving blocks is 1 (cement): 4 (sand). The research objective was to determine the compressive strength and water absorption content and optimum composition of coffee ash waste as a cement substitution and bottom ash as a fine aggregate substitution. 10% bottom ash as subtle aggregate substitution and coffee husk ash as cement substitution with variation 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. Compressive strength testing is done at the age of 7 days, 14 days and 28 days and for water absorption
testing is done at the age of 28 days. The results of the paving block research showed that the optimum composition was found in V4 (15% KK, 10% BA) with a compressive strength of 20 MPa and the percentage of absorption was 5.56%. Based on SNI 03-0691-1996, the paving blocks produced in this study include the quality of B which can be used for parking lots.
