Abstract :
Paving blocks are usually called concrete bricks with the material making up cement, sand and water. Producing paving blocks that have good strength, is very dependent on the material contained therein. One of them is by utilizing marble powder waste as a cement substitution from the marble industry which has limestone content, and using stone splitted waste as a substitute for sand which is mostly produced from the stone breaking industry. The comparison of the paving block mixture is 1 (cement): 4 (sand). The research objective was to determine the compressive strength and water absorption content and the optimum composition of the substitution material for marble powder waste and stone splitted waste on the paving block. The variation of marble powder waste and stone splitted waste used in the mix of paving block making materials is 0% (Normal), 20% LSM + 20% LPB, 20% LSM + 40% LPB, 20% LSM + 60% LPB and 20% LSM + 80% LPB. Compressive strength testing is done at the age of 7 days, 14 days and 28 days and for water absorption testing is done at the age of 28 days. The results of compressive strength tests at 28 days for each variation are as follows 17.33 MPa, 17.50 MPa, 17.83 MPa, 18.67 MPa and 16.17 MPa and the results of the water absorption test of each variation are as follows 5.37%, 5.05%, 4.23%, 4.08% and 4.57%. The optimum value of paving block uses marble powder waste and stone splitted waste in variation V3 (20% marble powder waste and 60% stone splitted waste) with compressive strength of 18.67 MPa and the percentage of absorption is 4.08%. Based on SNI 03-0691-1996, the paving blocks produced in this study include the quality of B which can be used for parking lots.
