Abstract :
To overcome the dependence on the use of reinforcing steel on concrete, alternative materiaIs are used to replace reinforcing steel with renewable and easy to obtain, named as petung bamboo. Therefore, this study examines the bending capacity of concrete blocks using petung bamboo reinforcement. The method in this research is laboratory experimental. Tests conducted in the form of testing the flexural capacity of reinforced concrete blocks of bamboo and steel reinforcement using a modified compression test equipment. The quality of the concrete used is fc '= 20 MPa. Variations in beam reinforcement diameter are 8 mm and 10 mm. The specimen of beam flexural capacity is in the form of a concrete block with the size of 150x150x600 mm at the age of 28 days of concrete with a single symmetrical load method. The results of the flexural test modification of the compressive test equipment can be used in finding out the actual value of the flexural strength of reinforced concrete beams. The actual beam bending test results on petung bamboo reinforcement with a diameter of 8 mm and 10 mm were 3.961 and 4.885 MPa. In steel reinforcement beams with diameters of 8 mm and 10 mm are 12,588 and 16,094 MPa. While the theoretical test results on petung bamboos with a diameter of 8 mm and 10 mm were 4,341 and 6,494 MPa and on steel reinforcing beams with diameters of 8 mm and 10 mm were 5,398 and 7,999 MPa. The theoretical and actual flexural strength results have a significant difference because they do not use the tensile strength data that was carried out during the study.
