Abstract :
The limited land available urges engineers to utilize land efficiently. Dealing with these conditions, tall buildings and basements can be a real solution. In constructing a basement, several problems can encounter, including rising groundwater levels and landslides around the excavation. Therefore, retaining walls are designed to maintain the stability of the basement structure and prevent the surrounding soil from collapsing. Secant pile and Soldier pile are two types of retaining walls that will be compared to determine optimal design results, in designing it is necessary to take into account the lateral pressure and the depth of penetration where if the penetration depth exceeds 12 meters, reinforcement with the anchors' addition is required. The purpose of this thesis is to determine the deformation and safety factor of the secant pile and soldier pile by using the finite element method in the plaxis program. After the trial and error calculation, with the pile length addition and anchor Secant pile obtained a total deformation result of 241.49 meters with an SF of 1.905 while the soldier Pile in the calculation of trial and error by adding the length of the pile and anchor obtained a total deformation of 329.65 meters with SF amounted to 1.906. From these results, the Secant Pile design of the retaining wall is chosen
