Abstract :
Paving blocks are also called concrete bricks (cone blocks) or cone blocks. The material for making paving blocks consist of cement, sand and air. Paving blocks with good compressive strength are very dependent on the material contained in it. One of the ways is by utilizing the rest of the tofu factory consisting of corn cobs ash waste and coal combustion (bottom ash). For corn cobs ash waste is used as a cement substitution and bottom ash as a sand substitution. Comparison of materials for making paving blocks is 1 (cement): 4 (sand). The purpose of the study was to determine the value of compressive strength, the level of water absorption, and the optimum composition of the substitution material for corn cob ash waste and bottom ash on paving blocks. The corn cob ash waste used in the paving block making material mixture is 5% ATJ waste and the variation of bottom ash mixture is 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30%. Compressive strength testing was carried out at the age of 7 days, 14 days and 28 days and for water absorption testing was carried out at the age of 28 days. From the results of the study obtained a normal compressive strength value of 18 MPa and the percentage of water absorption is 5.91%. And for paving blocks using 5% corncob ash waste as cement substitution and bottom ash mixture 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% as sand substitution obtained optimum composition at V? (5% ATJ + 10% Bottom Ash) with a compressive strength value of 23.25 MPa and the absorption percentage was 6.57%. Based on SNI 03-0691-1996, the paving blocks produced in this study include B which can be used for parking lots.
