Abstract :
H. Ulakma Sinaga Street is one of the province roads in Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra Province with the function of the surrounding area as settlements, fields, vacant land, shops, school and industries. This road is located in the center of Simalungun Regency and is one way of Siantar - Simalungun and is the main road to Asahan Regency. Over time, the high volume of traffic that overloads the H. Ulakma Sinaga Road repeatedly results in a decrease in the quality of the road in the form of damage to the road surface, thereby reducing comfort and causing accidents for road users. The study was conducted using the Surface Distress Index (SDI) method with measurement parameters are the area of cracks, crack widths, number of holes, and ruts. This study aims to assess the level of damage of each segment on H. Ulakma Sinaga Road along 500 meters (Sta 0 + 000 to Sta 0 + 500) and know the appropriate handling method based on Bina Marga 2011. Each segment is evaluated in order to get an SDI value. The analysis and calculation of SDI shows the level of damage that occurs in each segment. Following the level of damage to segment I has an SDI value of 105 (lightly damaged), segment II 225 (heavily damaged), segment III 105 (lightly damaged), segment IV 40 (Good), and segment V 100 (moderate). Handling that can be done is by means of P4 = filling cracks, P5 = patching holes, P6 = leveling.
