Abstract :
UP Gresik in the village of Sidorukun Gresik. UP Gresik consists of PLTU, PLTG, and PLTGU. PLTU consists of four units with different capacity, where units 1 and 2 capacity of 100 MW while units 3 and 4 each have a capacity of 200 MW. One of the most important components on PLTU is a boiler. Boiler works to heat the water until it formed the hot water or steam. Heat rate or heat needs namely a heat that is needed to produce one kWh. Where is the heat rate will progressively increase with increasing age is getting a power plant that is inversely proportional to efficiency, efficiency will be decreased with increasing age of the power plant. PLTU Gresik unit 3 operate from year 1988 and belongs to the old one so that the efficiency unit are already experiencing a downturn, one boiler equipment. With a decline in the efficiency of the boiler will give effect to decrease the overall efficiency of the unit primarily on heat rate. The higher the efficiency of the boiler heat rate required then the lower and instead. Study on the efficiency of the boiler is computed at the time before and after overhaul and its effects on the heat rate unit 3 PLTU Gresik. From the results of the analysis of the obtained results the boiler efficiency after the overhaul is better compared to the efficiency of the boiler before overhaul and with it so will lower the heat rate of the unit.
