Abstract :
A common problem that occurs in power transformer operations is the emergence of a failure, both thermal failure and electrical failure. Thermal failures and electrical failures generally produce harmful gases which we commonly know as fault gases. Most power transformers usually use insulating oil whose function apart from being a coolant can also be used to dissolve these harmful gases so they do not circulate freely. This study will briefly discuss how the DGA (Dissolved Gas Analysis) test can identify the indication of failure that has occurred in a transformer at PT Indonesia Power Suralaya PGU by using Roger's Ratio method. This method is Roger's Ratio method is one way to analyze the gas that is broken down from a transformer oil. The way this method works is by comparing the values of one gas with another. Based on the test results obtained, the generator transformer unit 4 in the last one year has a normal condition. This is evidenced by the total value of gas content in oil where the gas content values of H2, CH4, C2H2, C2H4, C2H6, and CO, are less than the specified standard, namely 720ppm. So the transformer does not experience problems / cases, and the oil sample test is carried out in the following year. This research used quantitative method.
