Abstract :
Growth in electricity demand will continue to increase along with population growth in urban areas. In the Jakarta area almost entirely use a medium voltage ground cable or SKTM (Medium Voltage Cable Line). This will encourage an increase in XLPE cable usage which is a superior product in the medium voltage distribution system. Despite being a superior product, XLPE cables still have a major problem, namely the failure of insulation that causes the appearance of partial discharge on SKTM cables. Partial discharge can occur due to air voids (voids) inside the cable insulation, so that it can reduce the quality of cable insulation which will cause 1 phase interference to the ground. At substation SP 244 - GI Kebon Jeruk, when a partial discharge test was carried out in 2018 it showed that the condition of the ground cable was very bad in the L3 phase and bad in the L1 and L2 phases which were at jointing point 1 (56m) and also at 1150m (1200m) ). Meanwhile, substation SP 244 - GI Kebon Jeruk in 2020 has experienced a change in the condition of the cable where the L1 and L2 phases still show the cable condition is still good because there is no partial discharge that appears, and the L3 phase shows the condition of the cable in a alert state at jointing point 3 (342m)
