Abstract :
The process of heat transfer in the industrial world today, is a key process of work in a machine, because all the machines work in a fairly high temperature. One heat exchanger (Heat Exchanger), which is used to exchange heat between working fluids of different temperatures. Because according to the use of Heat Exchanger to note its performance is adjusted because the use of Heat Exchangers can save energy consumption on the machine by keeping the machine does not work with a high enough temperature. This research was conducted to analyze the performance of the shell and tube auxiliary Heat exchangers with a Single Pass system as an engine coolant auxiliary at PLTA Jatiluhur PERUM Jasa Tirta II which assisted the main heat exchange apparatus in cooling components in units such as turbines, bearings etc. Where this heat exchanger works to help cool the cooling air out of the engine as long as it works, using air dams as its cooling fluid. From the resultant data, the result of the analysis of the 6th heat exchanger unit is obtained to the effectiveness of the heat exchanger during the heat exchanger work is 77.1%, which from the analysis can be said that the heat exchanger is still working quite well. And from the data processing, it can be seen also the limit of tolerance of the minimum tube amount that can be used in heat exchange tool which is investigated that is 60 tubes, in other words the maximum number of tubes allowed to do plugging as much as 36 tube from total 96 tubes with value Effective 60% can help Jatiluhur hydropower in managing all Heat exchanger Unit 6.
