Abstract :
In a generator with an excitation system, the amount of electric voltage generated by the generator is proportional to the magnitude of the magnetic field in it, while the magnitude of this magnetic field is proportional to the magnitude of the excitation current generated. the control of the generator
output uses a brushless excitation system, which means that a small amplifier system can control a large power. This system delivers excitation current to the rotor from the main generator with non-brush excitation. The excitation is supplied from the exciter AC generator by passing the rotating diode on its axis,
then the excitation current is directly related to the generator rotor. Based on data processing it can be proven that the apparent power obtained is 22515.05 kVA, then the power factor is 0.816, and the amount of voltage regulation is 0.032%. Automatic Voltage Regulator or AVR generator can work optimally at the highest load of 18370 kW. Where the generator voltage is 6.298 kV close to the nominal voltage which is around 6.3 kV. Even though the amount of load is given, the percentage of voltage regulation is very low at 0.032%. This is due to
the automatic voltage regulator or AVR which increases the excitation current to 4.5 A, so the generator voltage remains almost constant.
