Abstract :
Lightning Arrester as a safety channel against lightning strikes and overvoltages. So that the insulation and grounding of the Lightning Arrester must be ensured to be in good condition in order to protect the equipment at the substation from overvoltage caused by surges. For this reason, lightning
arresters must be in accordance with applicable standards and conditions by testing insulation and earth resistance prisoners. The Jatirangon substation is a substation that has been installed for a long time and therefore every 10 years all equipment including lightning arresters must be put into operation-worthy
certification. In testing the insulation resistance at the point of the ground-down point is 0.2 M?, 0.07 M? and 0.4 M?, the value of the insulation resistance at that point does not meet the standards and is below the minimum value (> 1 M?
/ 1 kV). After replacing the stand component under the ground test results at point R at 76.8 M?, phase S 141 M? and phase T 96.4 M? it can be seen that the insulation resistance of the lightning arrester at the ground-down point is in good
condition and above minimum standard value. The results of grounding resistance test on lightning arrester, namely at phase R 0,006 ?, S 0,07 ?, and T 0,2 ? based on the value of insulation resistance meet the IEEE 80-2013 standard where the value <5 Ohm
