Abstract :
With the many uses of electricity in our environment today, both among households and in industry, many people depend on electricity. Electricity is used for various things such as turning on lights, fans, television and many more. The electrical energy used by households and industries will be calculated automatically by PT PLN (Persero) using a measuring instrument, namely the kWh meter. The KWh meter used at PT PLN (Persero) consists of two types, namely electronic kWh meters and electromechanical kWh meters. This study aims to answer public doubts with the change from initially only electromechanical kWh meters to electronic kWh meters. To answer these doubts the research was carried out by making a comparison of the two kWh meters both in terms of the error value or the error in the kWh meter, comparing the system contained in the kWh meter and making comparisons on the consumption of electrical energy used. So as to produce data in the form of adding numbers to the electromechanical kWh meter and decreasing numbers on the electronic kWh meter. Based on this research, it can be concluded that the error value obtained is below one percent, namely the electronic kWh 0.1%, 0.34%, 0.31%, while the electromechanical kWh values are 0.1%, 0.2% and 0. 4%. Whereas for the system used electronic kwh from rupiah is converted to energy while electromechanical kWh from energy is converted into rupiah so that when the kwh energy released is 330 kWh it will cost Rp. 500,000 for 4400VA power. Then the second system is in the minimum account (load power) for electronic kWh meters, there is no minimum account (load power), while for electromechanical kWh meters there is a minimum account (load power) with 4400VA power, a load fee of IDR 258,241.28 will be charged every month
