Abstract :
In December 2020 in the container yard (CY) area of 05 Container Terminal Semarang PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero) was struck by lightning that resulted in 3 units of Automatic Rubber Tyred Gantry (ARTG) damaged / unusable because the electronic components in the unit were damaged so that loading and unloading activities were hampered. In order for the event not to reoccur, in the area of Container Yard (CY) 05 and Container Yard (CY) 01 a lightning protection system is needed. The lightning protection system used is a lightning dealer. In planning a lightning dealer there are several methods, one of which is the rolling ball method. With this research, you can know that in the Container Yard (CY) area 01 has a radius of lightning channeling of 45 meters because in this area is at the level of protection III, while in the Container Yard (CY) area 05 has a radius of lightning channel of 30 meters because in this area is at the level of protection II. In addition, it also knows the maximum lightning current (I) in the Container Yard (CY) area 01 is 160.06 kA, while in the Container Yard (CY) area 05 has a maximum current of 93.22 kA. The number of lightning dealers that will be used in the Container Yard (CY) 01 area as many as 6 while in the Container Yard (CY) area 05 as many as 15 pieces.
