Abstract :
A heat exchanger process equipment is extensive and is often applied in industries such as power plants, chemical plants and other industries. And One example of the heat exchanger found in a power plant is the High Pressure Heater (HPH), where the steam from the turbine output is used as a feed water heater before entering the boiler. There are several types of heat exchangers that are often used: Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers. With a case study in the field that the unit remains operating without HP Heater resulting in losses. In the research writing obtained from the data calculation design heat balance by outsourced the HP Heater 16% increase in Heat Rate due to increased steam flow and the influence of the power plant on the increase of 16% turbine power extraction and a 7% efficiency decrease. Data retrieval was carried out at 350 MW load, with an increase of heat rate under High Pressure Heater condition of 16% increase. This can lead to an increase in operating costs of Rp. 22.130.385 / hr.
